At least four people were killed in a shocking Gig Harbor stabbing Tuesday morning in a quiet waterfront suburb in Washington state. Authorities say a 32-year-old man began attacking people with a knife outside a home on 87th Avenue Court NW shortly before 9 a.m. Deputies later shot and killed the suspect at the scene.
The violence erupted in the 14000 block of 87th Avenue Court NW, a peaceful cul-de-sac lined with well-kept homes valued at around $800,000. However, within minutes, the neighborhood turned into what investigators described as a “very active” crime scene.
Protection Order Call Preceded Gig Harbor Stabbing
According to KING 5, Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies were first dispatched just before 9 a.m. following reports of a protection order violation. A 911 caller claimed the suspect was breaching a no-contact order at the residence.
However, while deputies were en route, additional emergency calls flooded dispatch. Witnesses reported that a man was stabbing multiple people in the street. As a result, the situation rapidly escalated from a domestic-related call to a deadly Gig Harbor stabbing.
Authorities later confirmed that the no-contact order had not yet been formally served to the suspect. Officers had been given a copy to deliver, but the attack unfolded before they could reach the home.
Victims Attacked In Street
Investigators say three adults were pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics rushed a fourth victim to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite emergency treatment, that individual later died from their injuries.
Witnesses described horrifying moments as at least one victim was stabbed in the middle of the street in front of onlookers. Neighbors watched in disbelief as the suspect allegedly moved between victims during the Gig Harbor stabbing.

Deputy Fatally Shoots Suspect
A lone Pierce County sheriff’s deputy confronted the attacker and opened fire at approximately 9:33 a.m., authorities said. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Pierce County Force Investigation Team has taken over the case. Officials continue to process evidence and interview witnesses as part of the active investigation.
So far, authorities have not publicly identified the victims or released details about their relationship to the suspect. However, investigators indicated the initial call involved a domestic-related issue connected to the protection order.

Gig Harbor is a small maritime city along Puget Sound, about 15 miles northwest of Tacoma. The waterfront community is home to roughly 12,000 residents, according to the 2020 census.

Neighbors reported hearing sirens and seeing deputies swarm the normally calm street. Crime scene tape cordoned off the cul-de-sac for hours while forensic teams examined the area.
