Tucker Carlson GOP Break Exposes MAGA Split – “I Am Out!”

Tucker Carlson has broken with the Republican Party, delivering one of the sharpest public ruptures yet inside Donald Trump’s MAGA movement. The former Fox News host and influential right-wing commentator said on the podcast “Can’t Be Censored” that he no longer supports the GOP. Carlson, once one of Trump’s most prominent media allies, said in the Tucker Carlson GOP drama: “I’m out.”

Carlson said he had supported the Republican Party for 35 years, but argued that the party had “betrayed” its voters. His central accusation: Republican leaders, in his view, placed Israel’s national security interests above those of the United States.

The split comes after months of Carlson criticizing Trump’s Iran war. Carlson has argued that the United States entered the conflict after pressure from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He has also pointed to controversial remarks by Secretary of State Marco Rubio from the early days of the war, when Rubio partially backed the view that Israel had pushed hard for U.S. involvement.

Carlson made clear that his anger at Republicans does not mean he will support Democrats. He said he does not know how he will vote in the future. The break adds to a larger fight inside the MAGA coalition. Trump built his political movement around loyalty, populism and an “America First” foreign policy. But the Iran war and the U.S. relationship with Israel have opened a deep divide between different factions on the right.

On one side are anti-war populists and Carlson-style “America First” voices. They argue that the United States should avoid foreign wars and should not prioritize Israel’s security over American interests.

On the other side are pro-Israel conservatives and national security hawks. They argue that U.S. support for Israel remains central to American foreign policy and to Republican politics. The dispute has become especially bitter because Carlson remains a major figure with influence among parts of the conservative base.

Carlson has also faced repeated accusations of antisemitism from critics. He denies being antisemitic. But his critics have pointed to his attacks on Israel, his interview with far-right figure Nick Fuentes, and his interview with Kanye West after the rapper’s antisemitic outbursts. Critics have also accused Carlson of using stereotypes in his attacks on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is Jewish.

The Tucker Carlson GOP break is also part of a broader power struggle over the future of the MAGA movement. Trump loyalists are clashing with disappointed populists. Pro-Israel hawks are fighting anti-interventionist conservatives. Institutional Republicans are arguing with anti-establishment influencers.

The question is no longer only whether MAGA remains loyal to Trump. It is also what MAGA becomes after Trump. Carlson’s comments were directed mainly at the Republican Party, not directly at Trump. That distinction matters. Carlson did not fully break with Trump personally, even as he attacked the party Trump leads.
