An Arizona couple says they discovered Blood-Stained Gloves in the desert about a mile from the home of missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, raising fresh questions in the high-profile disappearance case. The items were reportedly found off Campbell Avenue in the Catalina Foothills of Tucson on Feb. 11, days after she vanished.
The couple, who asked to remain anonymous, told local station KVOA-TV that they stumbled upon two black gloves lying about 10 feet apart in the desert brush. According to their account, one glove appeared ripped and had what looked like dried blood near the wrist and index finger.
Discovery Of Blood-Stained Gloves In Desert
“Sure enough, it was a black glove in the desert,” the couple told the outlet. “It appeared to have looked like it was ripped. It also appeared to look like it had blood on it.”
They said the Blood-Stained Gloves did not resemble ordinary winter wear. Instead, the wife described them as gloves that “could’ve possibly been what they were looking for,” referring to the ongoing investigation.
The couple also noticed a rock beneath one glove that appeared to have a droplet of dried blood. However, they said they did not touch anything. Instead, they photographed the scene and immediately contacted the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators arrived, questioned the couple and remained in the area until around 2 a.m., according to the report.
Connection To Nancy Guthrie Case?
Authorities have confirmed that multiple gloves have been collected from the Tucson neighborhood in recent weeks. Several may resemble the type worn by an armed, masked individual captured on camera outside Nancy Guthrie’s home on Jan. 31, the morning she disappeared.
The Blood-Stained Gloves found by the couple have not been publicly confirmed as part of the official evidence. “We cannot confirm at this time,” the sheriff’s department told KVOA-TV. “Detectives and agents have collected multiple gloves from the area, and analysis is part of the investigation.”
Previously collected DNA from other gloves did not match any entries in the FBI database. Moreover, officials said DNA recovered from gloves found outside differed from DNA located inside Nancy Guthrie’s home.
The FBI has also been involved in the search, and reporters observed agents collecting at least one glove roughly one and a half miles from the residence.
Search Enters Third Week
The search for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC “Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, entered its 20th day on Saturday. Authorities have not named any suspects or persons of interest.
Meanwhile, law enforcement continues to process physical evidence and canvass the Catalina Foothills area. Investigators have not disclosed whether the Blood-Stained Gloves contained usable DNA or whether lab results are pending.
As the case stretches on, each new discovery intensifies scrutiny. However, officials stress that no single piece of evidence has yet led to a breakthrough. For now, the gloves remain one of several troubling clues scattered across the desert landscape — and the mystery surrounding Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance remains unsolved.
